Sheep

Origin

Sheep (Ovis aries) are one of the earliest domesticated animals, originally bred from wild mouflon in Central and Southwest Asia over 10,000 years ago. They have since spread worldwide and are raised for wool, meat, milk, and as companion animals.

Life Span

  • In the wild: 6–10 years
  • In domesticated care: 10–12 years, though some can live up to 15 years with excellent care
