Pygmy Goat

Origin

The Pygmy Goat is a small breed of domestic goat that originated in West Africa. They were later brought to Europe and North America, where they became popular both as pets and for small-scale farming.

Life Span

• Pygmy goats typically live 10–12 years.

• With excellent care, some can live up to 15 years

• Pygmy goats are known for their playful, friendly personalities, making them a favorite among visitors at farms and petting zoos.

• Despite their small size, they are very hardy and can adapt well to different climates.

• A healthy female (doe) can give birth to 1–4 kids at a time.

• Pygmy goats are excellent climbers and jumpers, often seen balancing on rocks, logs, or even climbing onto things they probably shouldn’t!

• They are ruminants, meaning they have a four-chambered stomach that helps them digest grasses, hay, and other fibrous plants.
