Project Background:
Late last year, as part of its Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund, the Federal government provided funding to help the District rehabilitate Maplewood Farm. The District has matched that grant, and will use the funds to make much needed upgrades to the farm, including:
- The construction of an enclosed multi‐purpose area (which will be added to the existing Visitor’s Centre Building) which contains: a bar fridge, a microwave, sink and counter, an LG Smart TV for slide shows and pictures, large tables and various types of seating. In addition, this new multi-purpose room has its own wheel-chair accessible washroom. This new multi-purpose room is available for rent to the public. Contact us for pricing and details.
- The construction of six new shelters by the animal viewing pens.
- Replacement of existing washroom facilities; with upgraded toilets and sinks.
- Creation of interpretive signage to inform and educate guests on the specific types of animals we care for.
