Ring Necked Pheasants

Origin

Asia

First brought to North America during the 18800s. Now found across Canada, and prefer agricultural and wetland habitats

Life Span

Wild pheasants live less than 3 year due to them being a prey species. In Captivity they can live 11-18 years

Fun Facts

They have excellent eyesight and hearing to detect predators, and can quickly get away by running up to 16km/hour. Though they can fly, they prefer to run.

Like chickens, pheasants lay eggs. However, they only lay eggs during the spring/summer.
